The final get together in my (soon to be) old house happened on Saturday. Steve joined me, Jessica and Matt for a few drinks and a game or two. We played Jenga for a while before getting (Jessica’s favourite) “Simpsons Game of Life” out – I won for a change 🙂

On Sunday me and Jessica went bowling with Cara and Nick. Jessica did impressively well… she claimed she was going to beat me before coming clean and admitting she wasn’t very good at it. The letters on the score are confusing so for game 1 : Cara – 58, Roboshrew (Nick) – 69, Fuzzy (Me) – 130 and Conan (Jessica) – 97. An impressive double-strike from Jessica, but this was offset by her releasing the ball on one of her back swings and causing Cara’s life to flash before her eyes.

I think Jessica will be putting some pictures of these events up soon.

On the left is an image of a character from the game Dragon Quest. Jessica hopes to one day buy this game as she had fun playing the demo. Also, the character’s name is Jessica!

On the right is the character Jessica Cannon from a game I might one day play – “Sin episodes”. Ms Cannon seems to share some characteristics with her Dragon Quest namesake – a similarity in hair colour and a kind of twin bunches approach to the hair style.

I just thought it was interesting that Jessica is a popular character name at the moment and that they seem to have the same style. Perhaps the name popularity is nothing to be surprised by – Jessica will tell you (if asked) that her name was the most popular girls name in 2004!

Having a relaxing time at my parents house at the moment. I just wanted to quickly post a funny thing Jessica said last night – if I had a “daftness of Jessica” page it would go there but instead it will have to be blogged.

We were watching Jonathan Ross’ show last night and he was introducing William Shatner. He started off by saying that Mr. Shatner was currently the face of All Bran and finished his introduction with the phrase “Set bowels to stun”. Jessica only heard the last bit of this phrase and leapt to Mr. Shatner’s defence by saying “Just because he has an unfortunate last name!”. I thought Jessica’s introduction was much better than Mr. Ross’.

I hope to bring more “From the mouth of Jessica” to you soon.

Yesterday, me, Jessica and family went to visit a park in Belvedere. Jessica had lots of fun trying to beat her younger sister on a spring/twisty platform, where the object was to hold on for the longest. We had young Myfanwy with us and all the adults took the opportunity to go in the younger section with her. There was a 14+ section that provided the most fun/danger for the adults.

A new style of apparatus that allowed you to climb a post like it were a palm tree provided the most difficult challenge and the most sore hands. Only Thea’s husband Marcus was up to scaling the poll and spinning the flag victoriously at the top (see picture gallery). Anything that could be made into a competition for the men quickly was. Earlier Jessica played on the large see-saw/swing-ball and flattened Marcus (see picture gallery again).

We left the park looking very weary and went back for a cup of tea. I wanted a Cherry Bakewell but was made to feel guilty about denying Thea of one of her cravings…. so I went hungry 🙁 Next weekend will involve more family excitement as Me and Jessica again venture North to the Motherland.

Me and Jessica placed a holding deposit on a flat yesterday. I am really excited about it and we can move in mid-June. There is already a sofa and one bed so it should be good for people coming to visit but they may have no where to sit at first.

Now we just need to decide where all our stuff is going to fit and what additional storage we need to buy. Hopefully me and Jessica can agree on the latter!

Unfortunately the house hunt is still on – we liked one of the places we saw but another couple put a better offer in. At the moment we are hopeful that a flat we are viewing tomorrow will be good.

We spent a large amount of this afternoon shifting the old weeds out of the garden at my current house. The gardening had not been kept up with and it was a fairly major task. From my observations I estimate there are about 500 snails in our garden – I relocated about 20 and then we found some large colonies (30 in each) behind some nettles.

All this gardening made us hungry and so we had some profiteroles to re-energise – here I am tucking into mine.

The house hunt has jumped into life now, we viewed a property last night and have three lined up tonight. I am hopeful that one of these will be the one as they all look very good on paper… They would also reduce the amount I have to walk to the station by about %40. I want to point out that this is an estimate and I have not used a map, before Jessica accuses me of geekiness.

Sadly tomorrow I am going to a funeral – I have never been to one before and considered myself quite lucky. It is for my Grandad and I’d like to write something to remember him here but I haven’t yet thought of the words… perhaps I will think of some tomorrow. I think the thing I remember most is how he always seemed so proud of me, it always made me feel that I’d acheived loads in my life. He will be missed.

Me and Jessica have been waiting until May to start our house hunt. So, today being May the 1st…. Unfortunately all the estate agents were closed so we could only gaze into their windows and look at the pictures. There are quite a few in our price range and we decided to have a walk around the neighbourhood to see the outside of some of those we had shortlisted. By fluke we found a house where the landlady was doing some cleaning so we got our first viewing! Unfortunately the house needed a bit of work doing to it and we are not looking for that kind of property. Now at least we won’t be jumping on the first property we see as we have already dismissed one.

Not much else happening at the moment. I have been suffering from a sore-throat for the past week so have been being lazy. Hopefully it will be gone tomorrow and things can speed up again.
