Blogging break

Yikes – it’s been simply ages since I last posted! I’m very sorry loyal readers for not keeping you more up to date with the day to day happenings here at Tea Towers, I must try to do better. With all the changes that Rich has been working on to improve the look of the blog I thought it was high time that I did a new post before you all forgot about me.

Looking back at the blog it seems that my last post was back in August last year about our trip out to the Bluebell railway and since then Rich has been keeping you informed. In those 7 months much has happened and much has stayed the same. We’ve had Sam’s first Birthday, a trip out to Center Parcs, Christmas (and all the associated Christmas panic), Rich’s 30th as well as tons of Sam events like his first steps, first pair of shoes, first hair cut and lot’s of other new events that seem to happen almost daily.

Sam and I are still keeping ourselves mostly out of mischief and spend a lot of time visiting the nearby baby groups as well as socialising with other mums when we can. Today, for instance we went into town to get lunch out with a group of mums at Pizza Express. Sam enjoyed being in his high chair for the first hour, after which he just wanted to wander around the restaurant and see who he could get smiles from. He is as gorgeous as ever and still seems to charm everyone he meets.

Farm fun

Thankfully the Children’s centre that Sam and I go to have started back again and today we joined two of the staff members as well as some other mums with little ones for a visit to a fantastic city farm. Sadly I forgot to bring along the camera so I have no photos of Sam with some of the animals we meet there. We saw some cute baby turkeys (or poults as they are called), hens, ducks, horses, loads of different chaffinchs, rabbits, pigs, goats and sheep. There were horse rides for some of the older children as well as feeding time and a time slot for petting some of the rabbits and other smaller animals.

Unfortunately we had to cut our trip short as I had been a bit daft and forgot to bring Sam’s beaker along. However we will definitely come back to this park as Sam gets bigger and spend much more time saying hello to all the animals.

Yummm – tasty!

Chocolate fairy cake heavenAnother news update from Diddy Doddy Daddy week to let you know how our family trip out to my local baby and toddler group went.

Rich and I spent some time on Wednesday making up a batch of extra chocolatey fairy cakes (chocolate cake mix with chocolate chips, chocolate butter cream for the top and chocolate sprinkles – yum!) which we took round to the group for their cake sale (making sure to keep a few back for us to munch on later). Sam got settled into gazing around at all the toddler antics that were taking place around him and I made sure that we sampled some of the other cakes on offer (just to help support the group of course!).

Rich was really surprised by just how much noise was made by all the kids running around like crazy and he also got to see first hand how much Sam enjoys watching all that goes on. After a good cup of tea and Sam having his feed we headed off back home where unfortunately Rich decided that he had better get some rest as he was starting to feel unwell – uh oh…

All tuckered out

Tired SamuelWe’re just back from our new baby & toddler group and Sam fast asleep in his buggy. He’s been very cute again and did a real charm offensive on all the other mums. Sam seems to really enjoy watching all the other kids causing chaos and he even had a bit of a play on one of the mats himself.

Last night Sam managed for the first time to grip a rattle and shake it about. He seemed surprised and delighted and shook it about for a good 20 minutes, and even after the rattle had gone from his hand he still would give his arm the occasional hopeful shake 🙂

I’ve also managed to keep one of my other promises to myself which is to try and dress Sam in something other than sleepsuits all the time. Today he wore a pair of his dungarees proudly as well as his favourite stripy jumper and the cute hat his auntie made him (she is so talented!) for Christmas.
